Millie Jackson for KSA’s 50th anniversary concert

The legendary juju musician, Sunday
Adegeye, aka King Sunny Ade, and
American soul singer, Millie Jackson, are
billed to perform at a live musical concert
in Lagos on November 1, 2013.
The concert is being organised by The
Jadeite Group, an international
organisation that specialises in creating
platforms for the hosting of upscale
entertainment events, as part of a grand
ball marking its formal launch in Nigeria.
In a meeting with journalists in Lagos on
Tuesday, one of the organisers of the
concert, Idowu Thompson, said the event
was also aimed at celebrating the 50th
anniversary of KSA’s music career and the
musical heritage of Nigeria.
“This will be a landmark celebration of
KSA’s 50 years of performing on stage.
This is an exclusive opportunity for music
fans to see the famous musician himself
dish out the best of his hit songs
produced from the 1970s to the 1990s,”
he said.
To add a touch of glamour to the event,
which is scheduled to take place at the
Shell Hall Mason Centre in Lagos, the
hosts have decided to invite Jackson and
her band to perform on the same day.
“Millie Jackson is another musician who
has made an impact on the global
entertainment scene over time. She was
known and celebrated as the queen of
soul music between the 1960s and 1970s
in America and here in Nigeria. She was
last in Lagos for a ground breaking
musical performance sometime in the
1960s. We are glad that she will be
visiting Nigeria again for the concert in
November,” says Edi Lawani , who will be
in charge of the production of the
concert.
Lawani adds that the choice of Jackson
arises from the need to offer the guests
at the forthcoming concert rare kind of
treat that they have never experienced
before.
Tagged ‘KSA through the years’, the
concert is the first among a series of
events planned by The Jadeite Group in
its quest to introduce the luxury brand of
entertainment in the country and to
improve the quality of live musical
concerts.
