Man bags 7-year jail term for robbing mistress

A magistrate court in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State
on Monday sentenced one Irem Friday (30)
to seven years’ imprisonment for stealing
from his mistress.
The court, presided over by Chief
Magistrate N. Onuoha, ruled that the victim
committed the crime.
It was alleged that Irem Friday, a security
guard to his mistress, on June 27 with the
aid of a ladder, broke the ceiling to gain
entrance into the woman’s room.
On entering the room, the accused broke
his victim’s box and ransacked the entire
room carting away gold jewellery and other
valuables valued at over five hundred
thousand naira and one hundred and fifty
thousand naira cash.
In his judgment, the Magistrate ruled that
the accused be sentenced to 3 years’
imprisonment on the first count, 3 years on
the 2nd count and 1 year on the 3rd count
charge to run concurrently with hard
labour.
