Jonathan to honour Ikoyi Club at 75

President Goodluck Jonathan is expected
to declare open the week-long 75th
anniversary celebration of Ikoyi Club 1938
which starts on Monday.
The chairman of the 75th Anniversary
Sub-Committee, Yomi Orenuga, said the
president will be present at the ground
breaking for the club’s multi-storey and
multi-facility car park in Ikoyi, Lagos.
Governor of the Central Bank, Sanusi
Lamido Sanusi is also expected to deliver
the anniversary lecture on Thursday.
While there are various programmes lined
up for the celebration, the club members
will be engaged in sporting competitions
that will climax on September 29.
The games will commence on Tuesday at
all the sports sections. The sports are
swimming, golf, tennis, table tennis,
squash, badminton, snooker and other
sports.
The celebration will also feature health
talks and a cultural evening.
Chairman of the club, Mr. Adewale
Doherty, said part of the club’s pride is in
keeping with its philosophy of fostering
global harmony through recreation.
