‘New PDP visit to N’Assembly unethical’

A former member of the House of Representatives, Duro Faseyi, has described the visit by the Alhaji Kawu Baraje-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party to the National Assembly as unnecessary and unethical.

Faseyi, who represented Ekiti North Federal Constituency II in Ekiti State, in a statement made available to journalists in Ado-Ekiti on Wednesday, said the recent crisis within the PDP was “pure political issue” which should be resolved internally.

The statement said that every political party had peculiar internal challenges and raised questions on why PDP’s case was different.

The two-term legislator noted that with over 40 political parties in Nigeria, it would be chaotic if all factions within the parties were allowed to debate their grievances at the National Assembly.

It said, “If this is allowed, that means for a whole year the legislators could be busy attending to party issues which are out of the lawmaking business. If not promptly addressed, PDP may face more hurdles too difficult to overcome.”

It urged all parties in the crises to embrace the peace moves being initiated by the stakeholders, adding that the party was greater than any individual or group.

It stressed, “The development within the PDP confirms that the party is truly national.”
