New number plates: Registration extended till June 2014

The Joint Tax Board (JTB) has officially
announced the extension of the expiring
date for renewal of driver’s licence and
Vehicle number plates.
A press statement issued by the Secretary
of JTB, ML Abubakar confirmed that the new
expiring date for the renewal is now June
30, 2014, as against 1st October 2013 which
it gave earlier.
“The re-validation exercise in
respect of these items will continue
till 30th June, 2014. The Federal Road Safety
Corps, the Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIO)
and the State Board of Internal Revenue
are putting all necessary arrangements in
place to ensure ease of the process,” the
statement said.
However, other sources have said that the
development may not be unconnected to
the ongoing feud between the FRSC and the
Police over multiple registration.
