We're used to fashion shows
being late, but nearly an hour
into the wait time at Marios,
the photographers and the frow
were starting getting a little
antsy (one started singing to
coax the show into starting. It
didn't work).
We didn't mind - it meant more
time ogling what Leigh Lezark
was wearing on the front row
(all-white - very SS14) and
ploughing through the
chocolate chip cookies on offer
at the Topshop Show Space
(best pre-show spread ever).
But once everything began, all
was seemingly forgotten. The
go-to designer for Kristen
Stewart (her most figure-
hugging looks were by Marios)
Blake Lively and a whole host of
A-listers, from Leighton
Meester to Alexa Chung, the
focus wasn't entirely on red
carpet dressing.
Instead, we had more daytime-
friendly looks - from chunky-
soled sandals, baseball caps
and backpacks (seen at quite a
few shows now) to neat little
shift dresses in suede and
trench coats in raspberry.
There was even denim,
something we're not used to
seeing at a Marios show:
"Denim at Marios! I couldn't
believe it. Not only were there
denim dresses but also many of
his lace and chiffon gowns had
frayed denim details, which
gave a rawness to the polished
feel" said our Fashion Editor
Dana Karlson post show.
But don't worry, Kirsten et al,
there were still a clutch of
Schwab's signature figure-
hugging gowns, Grecian-esque
draped maxi dresses and frocks
with jewels leading up the nape
of the neck. Perfect for the red
carpet come awards season.
